A French refinery becomes Wellbred Trading SA’s newest acquisition for its renewable energy portfolio

Wellbred Trading SA has completed the acquisition of La Nivernaise de Raffinage SAS, a refinery based in Prémery, France, that specializes in transforming used cooking oil into energy. This acquisition is a significant step forward in Wellbred’s strategy to strengthen its foothold in France’s renewable energy market.

The deal enables Wellbred to deepen its involvement in the renewable energy industry while advancing its commitment to growth in this sector. The refinery, centrally located in France, processes used cooking oil to create valuable biofuels and other renewable energy outputs.

Wellbred is committed to retaining all 35 employees of La Nivernaise de Raffinage SAS and continue its supply chain in the domestic market. The acquisition also presents opportunities for innovative approaches in processing more complex waste materials.

By including La Nivernaise de Raffinage SAS into its renewables division in Geneva, Wellbred will unlock new avenues for growth, diversification, and partnerships. Leveraging the combined expertise of both entities is expected to fuel the expansion of the refinery and bolster efforts toward greater renewable energy production.

Wellbred’s Renewables desk, launched in 2022, has primarily concentrated on supplying biofuels to the Scandinavian markets and the marine industry. With this acquisition, Wellbred is poised to extend its operations into global feedstock trading and the distribution of biodiesel across France, Germany, and Spain.
